Goals and objectives
#ClimateActionPH was prompted by the urgent need to educate the community about the true costs of a continued dependence on unsustainable energy sources. The series zoomed in on climate change, its major contributors and its immediate impact. In this regard, the country’s level of vulnerability has serious implications: damage to the economy, food insecurity, loss of livelihood, and deaths.
At a time when global efforts are being forged, it is critical for the Philippines to acknowledge these consequences and consider potential shifts towards renewable energy alternatives as part of its effort to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Together with the government’s pledge to reduce emissions by 70% by 2030, there is also a need for the community to show support and an understanding of this urgency.
The campaign’s primary objective was to aid in shifting the Philippine’s current energy paradigm and to improve Filipinos’ understanding on the effects of continued dependence on unsustainable energy sources.
It aimed to answer the ff.:
- What are the top climate change contributors and how does this affect me?
- What will happen if we “do nothing”?
- Why should I care about the shift to renewable energy?
- What is being done?
- What can I do about it?
