Goals and objectives
Project ARI is a podcast created for children between the ages of eight and ten years. Whilst it was developed with entertainment top of mind, the content was shaped around an important message – to teach kids how to identify and speak up around disrespectful behaviour.
In Australia, domestic and family violence is at epidemic levels and has been made worse by the conditions created by the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s such an engrained part of Australia’s society that 2020 was actually labelled the worst year for domestic violence we’ve ever had.
Project ARI is a podcast that was created in partnership with the Australian Government’s ‘Stop it at the Start’ campaign. The campaign’s primary goal is to reset young people’s attitudes by motivating their adult influencers – parents, family members, teachers, coaches, employers, and other community role models – to play a role. It encourages influencers to reflect on their own attitudes and have conversations about respectful relationships and gender equality with young people.
We know behavioural change can take time, which is why Project ARI aims to intervene before attitudes and behaviours develop that may lead to violence. During the development phase of this campaign, we reviewed extensive data and research to produce a podcast that acts as an informative tool to showcase what respectful relationships and behaviour look like.
